We welcome all visitors to our beautiful island. If you are a wheelchair user, we hope that the following information will assist you in getting about in the popular Bangla Road area of Patong.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS IN BANGLA ROAD AREA
Despite what you may think, wheelchair access in Bangla Road and the adjoining bar areas is actually quite good! Our officers have recently surveyed the area for wheelchair access and can offer the following advice and information:

During daylight hours, Bangla Road is open for traffic, and you are advised to use the pavements. There are no permanent obstructions (such as lampposts) on either of the pavements, and there are slopes from the pavement whenever there is a side road. The pavement is about 12cm above the road level.

After dark, Bangla Road is pedestrianised, and you are advised to use the road, since the pavements will probably be crowded with street stalls.

There are no accessible toilets in Bangla Road. The nearest accessible toilets are in Jung Ceylon shopping center, (cross Rat-U-Thit Road at the bottom of Bangla Road and use the ramp to access the shopping center).

Some shops on Bangla Road, such as Starbucks and McDonalds, are inaccessible to wheelchair users because the access steps are very high (20cm).

The upstairs discotheques, such as Hollywood and DClub, are inaccessible to wheelchair users because there is no lift access

All beer-bar areas adjacent to Bangla Road are accessible to wheelchair users! But some are more accessible than others:

Soi Easy is accessible via a 1-meter wide steep ramp access (need a friend to help or ask the security guards). Once inside, all bars can be accessed via wide walkways and the pool tables are also accessible. Soi Easy is usually quiet and makes a good choice to visit.

Soi Gonzo is fully accessible with the exception of the popular Aussie Bar which has 18cm access steps.

Soi Crocodile is accessible via a very steep ramp. However, since this soi is usually very busy with Asian tourists who sit near to the entrance, we do not advise attempting to access this soi!

Soi Eric is fully accessible via two small slopes. This soi is very popular, but wheelchair access should be possible.

Soi Sea Dragon is fully accessible on both sides of the central bar area. The walkways are wide, but a little uneven. Most of the Go-Go bars are not accessible, but Crazy Girls and Show Girls both have ramp access.

Soi Lion is accessible via a small slope. This is a popular soi and it may be crowded during the late evenings.

Soi Tiger is fully accessible. This is also a popular bar area and can get very busy in the late evenings.

We hope that this information is useful for you!
